Airstrikes Near Iranian Base Syria

After the location of a new Iranian base near al-Bukamal Syria was made public last week, it appears that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran-sponsored Hezbollah militias near the new base were targeted in an airstrike last night. There has been no claim of responsibility for the strike yet, which killed at least 20 and wounded at least 3 dozen members of the Iranian-linked militia. but it apparently prompted swift retaliation. Only hours later, Iranian-linked militias near Damascus, Syria fired a volley of rockets towards Israel. The rockets apparently fell short of Israeli airspace, an no damage or casualties have been reported.

Within 24 hours of the Syrian Airstrike, a second unclaimed airstrike against Iranian-linked militia weapons depot was recorded near Salah Ad Din inside Iraq. This could potentially mean that the same entity struck Iranian-linked targets in both Syria and Iraq just hours apart, demonstrating the resolve and operational dexterity of parties opposed to Iranian expansion in the region.
